I really loved the love and trust between Hannah and Bailey. The mother-daughter bond was so touching. Hannahâs quick thinking and plan for an emergency escape really saved them all. Not only did it save her daughter, but it also saved Nicholas, her somewhat father-in-law. Owenâs help with the escape plan was so clever too. I didnât see them working together coming until later in the story.
This family involved in the mob was so cruel and heartless. I honestly think the oldest daughter Quinn had something to do with Kateâs death. Itâs crazy how no one has real answers about someone being hit and killed in broad daylight. This family, with all their influence, money, and control, couldnât give Nicholas the answers he deserved. I think Nicholas finally realized he was involved with this dangerous family, and thatâs what led to his daughterâs death. That realization was a big turning point in the story.
I also loved that Nicholas finally forgave Owen. That was such an important moment. The only thing I wish was different was more interaction between Owen and Hannah at the end. I really wanted to hear her yell, cuss, cry â anything â to her husband whoâs been hiding and running for almost six years.
Honestly, I loved this book so much. The authorâs writing is always great. I couldnât put it down! I definitely recommend this audiobook â itâs a must-listen. I really enjoyed it and itâs one of those stories that stays with you after you finish. đ

This story is intricately woven & beautifully written.
I would suggest reading The Last Thing He Told Me first (or re-reading it prior to reading this book).
