https://amzn.to/3PhUcV1 āāāāāWriting this review was honestly so hard for me. I try to keep my reviews spoiler-free and share details when I can, but so much of this book is built on surprises and twists. Even small details can feel like spoilers because so much of Brimstoneās impact comes from discovering those twists alongside the characters. You really need to experience the surprises for yourself, so I donāt want to ruin that for anyone.
Now, hereās my spoiler-free take:
Brimstone was one of my most anticipated books of 2025, and I couldnāt wait to get my hands on it. It did NOT disappoint! Callie Hart set the stage with Quicksilver, but this sequel takes everything to a new level. Where Quicksilver took its time building the world and making us fall for Kingfisher and Saeris, Brimstone picks up right where it left off and moves at lightning speed. The pace is intense from the very first page. Weāre thrown back into AmmontraĆeth with Kingfisher being his usual self, and from there itās just one revelation, one battle, and one emotional rollercoaster after another. If you loved Quicksilver, get ready because Brimstone is a whole different beast.
One thing I absolutely loved is that Hart gives us Kingfisherās POV, which Iāve always preferred. Dual POV is my favorite, and I was so excited when I heard Hart was doing it this time. It really added depth to the story, especially since the characters are pulling in different directions at times. Being inside Kingfisherās head, feeling his internal struggles and sense of responsibility, really helped me connect with him. Hart also introduces vampire court politics and Saerisās alchemist magic, weaving multiple plot threads that kept me hooked. The stakes escalate fast, the magic gets more complex, and everything comes together beautifully.
Hart writes relationships so well, and Brimstone is no exception. Watching Kingfisher and Saeris navigate through chaos pulled me in completely. Thereās undeniable chemistry between them, and while the spicy scenes definitely deliver, what I appreciated most was how emotionally in sync they felt. I also loved the relationships outside of romance ā the friendships, the found family, and seeing their circles come together really hit home for me. The bromance between Kingfisher and Carrion? Honestly, itās the bromance I didnāt know I needed. Hart balances romance with these other connections perfectly, and there were so many moments that really got to me emotionally.
I loved so much about Brimstone, especially the character growth. Saeris is trying to control powers she barely understands while leading people who donāt trust her ā all making tough decisions with no clear right answer. Watching her step into that role and stay true to herself was so satisfying. Kingfisherās arc was just as powerful ā the weight of his responsibilities, loyalty, and impossible choices added so much depth. Hart explores themes of sacrifice and loyalty without softening what it truly costs to protect loved ones. The stakes feel real and devastating, leading to an ending that left me completely reeling.
Honestly, I highly recommend this book. I loved every minute of it and found it incredibly addictive. I also think this is one of those series that gets better with each book, so donāt miss out! I enjoyed it so much that I completely devoured it and canāt wait for whatās next. If you loved Quicksilver and want a story with higher stakes, deeper emotions, and characters pushed to their limits, this series is totally worth continuing!
The first book was chefs kiss! I need to stop reading books before the series is finished, this is pure torture. Fingers crossed the second is as great as the first.
This was what I hoped for and more! I loved this book, maybe even more than the first. Especially that I had felt immersed in the world and familiar with the characters. The book flowed greatly, there wasnāt any repetition and stalemates I get when I read the second or third books in a series. I was ENGAGED and couldnāt stop reading. For me it was one of those āone more chapterā type of feeling. There was action, growth, surprises both good and bad, new creatures and jaw dropped mic moments! Seriously what I crave in a fantasy was all here, and thank you for that! One of my top favs.
